Synopsis

Spanning the late 1970s and throughout the 1980s, new episodes of the television series continue to tell the story of Elizabeth II and her kingdom.

In 1979, Margaret Thatcher, leader of the Conservative Party, USSR critic and also known as “Iron Lady”, became the new Prime Minister of Great Britain. During this era, the entire political life of the country revolved around the queen and the prime minister, these two strong women.

The TV series new season will show Princess Diana, wife of Prince Charles, who is the son of Elizabeth II, as well as William and Harry, their sons.

Interesting Facts

  • In Season 4, two new characters will appear at once – a young princess whose role will be played by Emma Corrin, a little-known actress who looks like a copy of Lady Dee, and also Gillian Andersen, who will play the role of Margaret Thatcher.
  • After the fourth season, serious character recasts are expected – Olivia Colman will hand over the crown to Imelda Staunton, and Princess Diana will be played by Elizabeth Debicki.
  • The fourth season of the TV series will premiere on November 15, 2020 on the Netflix streaming platform, with all episodes available for viewing.
  • The “Crown” TV series was originally conceived as a three-part show, with each actress playing the role of Elizabeth II for two seasons. However, in early 2020, Peter Morgan, the showrunner of the project, announced that the fifth season would be the final one. In the summer of 2020, Netflix bosses announced that the television series was renewed for a sixth season, which will be dedicated to the events of the early 20th century. The premieres of the last seasons are not expected anytime soon – the release of the fifth season is scheduled for 2022.
