Synopsis

The paralyzed young girl Ava, as fate would have it, becomes the bearer of a powerful artifact. It did not only heal her but gave her supernatural powers as well. Inspired by this, the girl hurries to make up for everything she missed, being unable to move, but almost immediately collides with some hellish monster. Ava is saved by a secret order that has been fighting evil for centuries. Now the girl has to prove that she is worthy of having the divine gift and fight the monsters that are waiting to kill her and take the artifact.

Interesting Facts

  • The entire series was filmed on the territory of Andalucia, Spain. The film crew traveled to Seville, Cordoba, and Malaga. However, the role of the Roman Cathedral of St. Peter took the former tobacco factory, which now houses the University of Seville.
  • The title of each episode is a reference to a text from the Bible. For example, the first episode is Psalm 46: 5.
  • The first part of the Warrior Nun comics was published in 1994. Even though the graphic novel was repeatedly criticized by the Catholic Church, its sequels came out until 2002. Since then, many have tried to turn the comics into a film or animated series, but each project was halted. Only in 2019, Netflix gave the go-ahead to shoot a TV-series.
