Synopsis

Close your eyes and mentally be transported to a town located somewhere on the island of Spitsbergen. You probably think that the locals live boring lives – but they are not! Family dramas, mysterious deaths, monstrous crimes against the background of silent snowy splendor – all sorts of unpleasant things constantly happen here. And this is not surprising, given who the locals are: the greedy governor Hildur Odegard who wants to boost tourism; the clearly crazy Sheriff Dan Anderssen; the photographer Henry Tyson taking pictures of nature and slowly dying of cancer; several scientists doing strange research. In addition, viewers will see several live bears and dead mammoths…

• The first season of the TV show began airing on January 29, 2015 on the UK’s Sky Atlantic. Warmly received by viewers and critics alike, the TV series was renewed for a second season. The third 4-episode season, which became the final one, premiered on December 6, 2018, 2 years after the release of Season 2.
• Danish actress Sophie Grabol, co-star on the TV show, is also best known to viewers for her role in “The Killing”, the so-called “Scandinavian noir series”.
• Although the TV series is set in the Norwegian Spitsbergen, most of the filming took place in the Icelandic town of Reyðarfjörður.
