Synopsis

McMillions documentary series tells us not the most popular story about an incredible scam that began in the nineties of the twentieth century. Back at the time, the McDonald’s restaurant chain held a lottery in conjunction with the Monopoly game and the fast food lovers collected chips and won prizes. Then the head of the company security service, which was hired by McDonald’s to conduct the game, was able to steal the most valuable chips and resell them for a percentage of the win. In total, the restaurant chain lost more than $ 24 million as a result of this scam.

Mark Wahlberg is one of the producers of the series. This is not the first time he has worked for the HBO TV Company. Prior to McMillions, the actor produced such game series as: Entourage, Boardwalk Empire, How to Make It in America and Ballers.
Despite the fact that the McDonald’s prize story has become one of the largest scams in US history, attention to this case has been overshadowed by the tragic events of September 11, 2001. The first key court hearing was held on the eve of the terrorist attack.
Recent years represent the heyday of documentaries and TV shows. If in 2019 everyone was hearing about the movie FYRE: The Greatest Party That Never Happened, then already in 2020 all the records are hit by McMillions and the incredible Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness.
In addition to McMillions, Hollywood plans to make a feature film about this scam. It is assumed that Matt Damon and Ben Affleck will take part in the film, but the project is still in development.
